Information About McCall Memorial Hospital
Joining St. Luke's Health System
From Dan Krahn, Board of Trustees Chairman
McCall Memorial Hospital District
I would like to take a moment to answer some questions you might have about why McCall Memorial Hospital would join St. Luke’s Health System.
The primary responsibility of the hospital’s Board of Trustees is to assure that
everyone living in and visiting our area has access to high-quality health care.
Changes in healthcare make it increasingly difficult for independent rural hospitals to survive. Our budget shows decreasing reimbursements from Medicare and Medicaid, shrinking cash reserves, and increasing charity care and bad debt. We believe it is necessary to proactively explore our options in order to continue offering the quality
of health care our patients have come to expect. More

A McCall Memorial Hospital District advisory vote is being requested by the Board of Trustees. It is important to the Board and to St. Luke’s Health System leadership to provide every reasonable opportunity for community members to provide input into joining St. Luke’s.
Our Board of Trustees have been granted decision making authority via their elected positions. While a public vote is not legally required, public endorsement of McCall Hospital joining St. Luke’s is still important to both McCall and St. Luke’s leadership.
Therefore, we are holding an advisory vote for residents of the hospital district as
well as identifying methods for residents outside of the district – who also use the hospital to voice their opinion about McCall joining St. Luke’s Health System.
Both McCall Hospital and St. Luke’s see this input as valuable and given that 50
% of McCall Hospital’s constituents live within the district and the other 50 %t live outside of the district, we want to ensure both groups have a voice in this decision.
If you have questions about voting or providing input email or call 634-4061, ext. 131.
