Job Title: CNA/ ER Tech
Department: Patient Care and Nursing
Reports to: VP Patient Care and Nursing
Classification: .6 - 71 hours per pay period/benefited
Hours: 10 hour shifts / days are varied

JOB SUMMARY
Performs specified tasks for patients as delegated by, and under supervision of the Professional Nurse. Works in collaboration with the ER RN to facilitate patient care from admission to discharge in a faced paced, ever changing environment. Must be organized, able to multi-task and prioritize. Exhibits behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement, service excellence and organizational values of Integrity, Honesty, Relationship, and Vitality

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Practice
1. Provides direct patient care as delegated to and supervised by licensed nursing
    personnel in all clinical areas and according to scope of practice as indicated through
    the Idaho State Board of Nursing.
2. Assists patients in preparation for treatments as directed by nursing personnel.
3. Maintains “room readiness” in the Emergency Department, inpatient area & Labor &
    Delivery (i.e. room turnaround, restock and cleaning when necessary). Completes
    necessary paperwork to document task completion.
4. Administrative duties: Includes but may not be limited to registers patients, enters
    orders, makes transfer arrangements and completes paperwork, updates triage
    board, organizes activities at the ER nurses station: answers phone, organizes
    charts, retrieves charts, admits patients.
5. Responds to verbal and written instructions.
6. Communicates baseline data to supervising personnel and documents care provided.
7. Provides high quality customer service and responds to patient and family requests
    in a timely manner. Reports any concerns to the Charge Nurse.
8. Promotes and provides safe environment according to all related hospital and
    department policies and procedures.
9. Completes mandatory training as required for position.
10. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Charge Nurse

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- CNA License or EMT Certification. Would prefer EMT certification. Must have one of
   these licenses or certifications.
- Computer aptitude or willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension and
  expression.
- Ability to function in ever changing work environment related to changing patient
   needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease
   processes, and those who are dying.
- Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance
   improvement, service excellence and organizational values of Integrity, Honesty,
   Relationship, and Vitality.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Risk of exposure to: Blood & Bodily fluids , Odors, Chemicals, Disease ,
TB (to require mask) , Mechanical/Electrical, Air Borne Organisms, Latex, Hazardous Drugs, Bio/Chemical Hazard, Radiation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent use of vision - far and near acuity; depth perception; field of vision; color vision; and sense of smell; sitting; standing; walking; bending/stooping; pushing/pulling objects on rollers/wheels; twisting/turning from waist; moving objects vertically and horizontally (up/down, let/right) 50 lbs; handling (holding, grasping, working with hands); fingering (pinching, picking, working with fingers); feeling (size, shape, temperature, texture by finger receptors); use of endurance (requiring cardiovascular fitness); right/left foot movement.
Frequent need to: hear in quiet and noisy surroundings; talk in quiet and noisy surroundings; hear and talk over the phone.
Occasional: kneeling; pushing/pulling objects without rollers/wheels; squatting; moving objects vertically (up & down) 50 lbs; right/left foot movement (use of pedals)
